Summer Time is the Season of Fun in the Sun! Get your summertime glow the healthy way with Au Courant's Self Tanning products.

Gone are the days of orange, sticky, un-natural looking sunless products. Self Tanner's have come a long way recently and can be a healthy alternative from baking in the sun to get that sought after golden glow!

Au Courant offers a range of self tanning products to suite your wants and needs. You have three different application methods to choose from including spray, mousse, or lotion. All three options will provide you with a natural tanned look that will have all your friends thinking you just came back from a week in the Bahamas! Chose the method that you’re most comfortable with, follow the tips below, & you’ll be on your way to the perfect summer glow!

When applying a self tanner, follow some of the tips and tricks listed below to ensure a beautiful, natural, and seamlessly glowing end result…

1. Exfoliate! Exfoliate! Exfoliate!!!
Exfoliation is key when applying any type of lotion but its even more imperative when applying a self tanner. Exfoliating the skin will allow for better application and penetration of the product, it will also help to ensure an even natural look. Without exfoliating you may notice dark patchy areas on the parts of your body that may be dryer, making your tan look un-natural and blotchy.

2. Always work with a clean Canvas.
Self Tanners adhere better to clean product free skin; this means no moisturizers, oils, deodorants, or perfumes. These products can create a type of barrier on top of the skin causing bare patches when the product was unable to penetrate the skin. Its recommended to apply self tanner after you’ve showered, preferably 15+ minutes after to ensure your skin is completely dry.

3. Start Gradually
You don’t have to put on the whole bottle your first application, in fact, we highly advise against it. Au Courant’s products go a long way and are great to build on to get the perfect color for you. Put on a pair of gloves and start with a light application first,  if you feel you want to be darker then apply a second or third coat, but remember, Au Courant’s self tanners continue to develop and get darker for up to 8 hours after application, so don’t put on too much the first time or you may turn out darker then you wanted. If you’re not dark enough after the first full application, perform another application the next day. Make sure that you rub in the product thoroughly during each application. *If you get too much product in areas, such as your hands if you don’t wear gloves, wash then with warm water and a dab of shaving cream, this will take away the product completely from those areas.

 4. Avoid certain activities after application
To ensure a seamless streak free look make sure to avoid any activities that may cause you to sweat or may cause rubbing of constricting clothing on your skin. Sweat or any form of water will cause the developing of the product to stop which can leave you with a streaky or blotchy tan, to avoid this, just simply relax after self tanning application. We suggest applying the product at night when you don’t have anything to do after and can relax in loose fitting clothing before bed.

5. Wash away the excess
After allowing the product to develop for 8+ hours rinse off the excess with warm water. Avoid exfoliating as this will strip the tan off and you’ll have to start again from step 1.

6. Enjoy all the compliments you will receive on your beautiful natural looking glow!!!

Note: Au Courant’s products are all vegetable based so don’t worry if some comes off on your clothes or on your sheets after application, it is 100% washable!!

Look Good After a Wax

Posted on July 23, 2012 by Sally Sue | 0 comments

Let's face it, beauty rituals can sometimes be painful but pain does not
stop us ladies from doing what we need to do to look and feel beautiful.  No
pain, no gain!  I occasionally get waxed by professionals (it can get
expensive and sometimes I just don't have the time to book in to get my full
leg and bikini waxed) and I do not know what they use or do to me before
getting waxed, but it does not hurt nearly as much as if I was to wax myself
at home!

I recently came across this product by Whish called Prelude - Pre Wax and
Shave Serum.  Who doesn't want to look good after a wax and why would you
want to walk around with redness and inflamed skin?  Prelude gently numbs,
cleanses and reduces skin inflammation with its natural combination of clove
leaf oil, menthol, witch hazel and organic aloe as most numbing products on
the market today contain ingredients like benzocaine or lidocaine (same
numbing ingredient your dentist uses on you before they do a filling!).

Depending on how sensitive your skin is, you may still feel a sting after waxing but Prelude definitely has made my waxing experience more

Prelude also contains witch hazel and tea tree leaf oil to help cleanse and tone the skin removing oil and impurities from the skin prior waxing for a smoother waxing experience.

Prelude also comes in a clear gel form so it is extremely easy to apply with your fingertips, no gauze or cotton pad needed!

I started to use Prelude to experience a better wax and shave but also
realized how moisturizing it was for my skin.  Waxing or shaving generally dries out my skin but with the use of Prelude, I have noticed my skin no longer dries up like it used to thanks to the wonderful ingredients of organic aloe, panthenol and cucumber extract.

Whish also practices earth friendly packaging and ingredients.  The line is paraben free, TEA, DEA and sulphate free and all products are tested on us, no animals.
